Frequently Asked Questions about Course Options and Navigation:
Q: How do I move to the next page, or return to a page I've already viewed?
A: To move forward, click the yellow Forward Arrow button (>) on the right side of the content window. To move backward to a previously viewed page, click the yellow Back Arrow button (<) on the left side of the content window.
Q: How can I tell How far along I am in a chapter?
A: The Chapter Title bar along the top of the content window displays the name of the chapter, as well as 2 indicators of your progress in the chapter. The "Page X of Y" indicator next to the chapter title will indicate your position in the chapter out of the total number of pages. The dots on the right side of the Chapter Title bar represent each page in the chapter, and turn blue based on which page you have viewed.
Q: How can I tell how far along I am in the course?
A: The Course Progress ring in the rightmost side of the Options Bar shows how far along you are in the course. It will turn from grey to blue as you move through the course. If you are taking the 2 hour manager version of this course, you must also spend a minimum of 2 hours actively viewing the course in addition to viewing every chapter to receive credit for completing the course.
Q: How do I change the course to a different language?
A: The Language menu allows you to switch the language the course is shown in. Click on "English" in the bottom option bar and select your preferred language from the menu.
Q: Can I turn the Videos off?
A: Yes, if you wish to turn the videos off, click the Video setting in the bottom option bar. The course will reload and all videos will be replaced with text pages. To re-enable the videos, simply click the Video setting back to On.
Q: Can I turn the narration off?
A: Yes, if you do not wish to hear narration on text pages, you can disable it by clicking the Narration setting in the bottom option bar to Off. To re-enable it, simply click the Narration setting back to On.
Q: Can I enable subtitles/captions on the videos?
A: Yes, to enable closed captions in the video, mouse over the video player until the video controls appear and click the CC button. Choose your preferred language from the captions menu.
Q: Is there a text-only mode I can take the course in?
A: Yes, to enable text only mode, simply turn the Video setting in the bottom option bar to Off. Videos will be replaced with a transcript of the video.
Q: I have to exit the course but I'm not finished, can I save my place and start there later?
A: Yes. Your progress is saved as you move through the course. If you need to exit the course to attend to something else, or just want to take a break, simply click the Save and Close button in the top left corner of the course to return to your Learner Portal.
Q: I've finished all the chapters, and now I see a message that says "You have reached the end of the course but have not satisfied the legal time requirement. Please review the course material until the timer has reached 00:00. Once that happens, you will be redirected automatically to the final video in the course."
A: If you see this message, you have reached the end of the course but still have some time remaining on the course timer. To satisfy the time requirement, you must return to a previous chapter and review the materials until the timer has reached zero. Once the timer reaches zero, clicking the Next button will advance you to the last page of the course, and your completion will be recorded. If you are having trouble returning to a previous chapter, click the Table of Contents to view the list of chapters, then click on a chapter title to return to the beginning of that chapter.
Q: I just viewed my company's workplace policy, but my course is still incomplete, what do I need to do to finish?
A: There is still a chapter remaining after the policy acknowledgment pages in the Our Workplace Policies chapter. To complete the course, you must finish the Summary chapter located after the policy acknowledgement section.
Q: Is there a final quiz that I have to take in order for my course to be marked complete?
A: Yes, in order to complete the course, you must view all pages and videos, complete all the quizzes, and finish the summary quiz at the end of the Conclusion chapter. You must also fulfill the 2 hour time requirement if you are taking the 2 Hour Manager version of the course.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Course Timer (2 Hour Mandated Manager version only):
Q: The timer has finished, but my course is not complete, how do I finish the course?
A: If you are taking a timed version, you must complete both the time requirement and finish every chapter in the course.
Q: My course's timer keeps stopping after 3 minutes, is this normal?
A: Yes. The timer was designed to only count time spent actively participating in the course, it will pause after 3 minutes of inactivity. If your timer has paused, simply continue to proceed through the course, it will resume when you continue interacting with the course. If you are seeing a message that says you have reached the end of the course but have not completed the time requirement, you need to review the course material until the timer reaches zero. To do that, click the Table of Contents and click on a chapter title, and review the material until the timer runs out. When the timer reaches zero, clicking the Forward arrow button will advance you to the final page of the course and your course will be recorded as complete.
Q: My course does not have a timer, should I proceed?
A: Only the 2 hour version of the course has a timer. If you do not see a timer in your course, you were assigned a 1 hour Manager or 35 minute Employee version. The course's description in your Learner Portal will tell you which version you were assigned.

Q: Will Emtrain share my questions with my employer?
A: No, Emtrain will not share your questions with your employer. The Ask an Expert feature is anonymous, and we will not share your questions with anyone.
Q: If I ask a question via Emtrain's Question and Answers feature, will it be published?

Q: The video looks grainy or pixelated, can I change the video quality?
A: Yes. The video is available in 3 levels of quality. To adjust the video quality, hover your cursor over the video player, click the HD button, and select the appropriate quality level, as shown in the screenshot below. 224p is the lowest quality level, and may appear grainy. 360p is medium quality, and 576p is the highest quality, suitable for fast internet connections. Auto will adjust the quality based on the speed of your internet connection.
Q: The videos "stutter" or buffer excessively while I am taking the course. Why, and what can I do?
A: If the videos play for a moment, then pause, and then resume playing again, then your internet connection is not currently fast enough to play the videos smoothly. Reducing the video quality will help, to adjust the video quality, hover your cursor over the video player, click the HD button, and select 224p. If you continue to run into problems with the video stuttering on 224p quality, turn the Video setting in the option bar at the bottom of the course to Off to take the course in text only mode.
Q: My browser shows a warning that I do not have Adobe Flash Player installed, what can I do to fix this?
A: The video player requires Adobe Flash Player to run, if it is not installed, please download and install Adobe Flash Player. You can download Adobe Flash Player HERE. If you do not have the necessary privileges to install software on your computer, contact your IT department for assistance.
Q: My browser shows a warning that my Adobe Flash Player is out of date, what should I do to fix this?
A: If you have an outdated version of Adobe Flash Player, you can download the latest version HERE. If you do not have the necessary privileges to install software on your computer, contact your IT department for assistance.
Q: I can hear the narrator, but the videos don't have any sound. What can I do?
A: This issue is most often experienced when you are taking the course on a Citrix XenApp virtual desktop, or other similar virtual desktop systems. If possible, take the course on your local computer desktop rather than the virtual desktop. If that is not possible, you may either enable Closed Captions in the video player by clicking the CC button and selecting a language, or turning the Video setting in the bottom left to Off to replace the videos with text.
Q: I cannot hear narration and the videos do not automatically start playing on my Mac when I am taking the course using Safari. How do I allow the narration and videos to play automatically?
A: Starting in Safari 11, any audio or video with sound that plays automatically when you load a website is paused automatically unless you add the specific website to Safari's autoplay list. To resolve this issue:
- Launch the course in Safari. With the course open, click the Preferences menu.
- Select the Website tab
- Click the Auto-Play option on the left sidebar. In the Allow websites below to automatically play media section, locate course-content.emtrain.com and select Allow All Auto-Play.
- Once you set Allow All Auto-Play on course-content.emtrain.com, the narration will play if it is turned on, and videos will start playing when you land on a video page.
Q: My course started over from an earlier point, can I recover my progress?
A: In certain instances, such as your computer or web browser crashing, your course may lose some or all of your progress in the course. If your course is hosted on Emtrain's Learning Managment System (LMS), we may be able to restore your progress depending on the cause of the issue. Please contact Emtrain support via the Contact Support button at the top of the page. If your course is hosted on a third party LMS, Emtrain is unable to assist you in recovering your progress. Please contact your training administrator for assistance in that case.
