Course Description
In the last few years, the United States has increased enforcement of its anti-bribery law, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The United Kingdom has also enacted its own expansive anti-bribery law, the Bribery Act, and Brazil, Russia, India, China, and other countries have enacted or are in the process of implementing similar anti-corruption legislation. One problematic business transaction can now trigger investigation and enforcement from several countries. For anyone engaged in business in the global marketplace, it is important to have an understanding of anti-bribery regulations, what is considered bribery by the enforcement agencies, and how instances of bribery can be pro-actively minimized through the ability to spot red flags and the existence of certain internal controls.
